25/6/2006: GIRL IN A MIRROR WINS 3 AWARDS

Girl in a Mirror, directed by Kathy Drayton and produced by Helen Bowden, won three awards at the Dendy Awards for Australian Short Films, presented at the State Theatre as part of the Sydney Film Festival’s Closing Ceremony, including the prestigious Rouben Mamoulian Award as well as the Best Documentary and a SBS Language Services prizes.

Girl in a Mirror was one of the 17 finalists selected by a panel of Festival guests including actor/director Rachel Ward, Award winning filmmaker Olivier Meyrou and
Award-winning producer Sandra Gorel. Head of Dendy Cinemas, Mark Sarfaty announced the winners of the awards, in front of a capacity audience of 2000 people, who filled the State Theatre to celebrate the end of this year’s festival.

Cordelia Beresford’s The Eye Inside won the Best Short Form Short category and Stuart McDonald’s Stranded won the Long Form award. The Experiemntal Category was won by Mark Tsukasov’s Looking Back, while the CRC Award was won by Alejandra Canales’ Switch on the Night, and Lee Whitmore’s The Safe House took home the Yoram Gross Animation Award.
