BLONDE AND BLONDER: DVD
Dee Twiddle (Pamela Anderson) makes friends with Dawn St Dom (Denise Richards) and they look for work together. They stumble onto a mob killing by the deadly assassin The Cat (Emmanuelle Vaugier) before getting involved with crime boss Mr Wong (Byron Mann) at a Niagara Falls casino. The Cat with sassy partner The Kit (Meghan Orry) are hot on the girls' tails, while Canadian police (John Farley and Kevin Farley) are not far behind.
Review by Louise Keller:
No brains are required to watch this comedic romp about two dumb blondes who accidentally become involved with the mob and elusive killer The Cat. Three script writers, including Pamela Anderson's brother Gerry, have collaborated to come up with a clichéd script filled with blonde jokes and an excuse for buxom Anderson and shapely Denise Richards to wiggle and giggle their way through a no-brainer of a low-brow comedy. It's not all bad, and chances are if you are looking for mindless laughs to accompany the beer and pizza, you may not be disappointed.
In the opening sequence we meet the two blondes, wearing identical pink mini outfits on the airport tarmac. They squeeze their assets into the crammed cockpit of a small plane, giggle as they turn on the engine and start along the runway. The gag? Neither girl is the instructor and they are both as dumb as each other. There's a crash on a golf course (yes, it's a hole in one), and by now Anderson's Dee and Richards' Dawn have bonded and discover they are next door neighbours. 'What are we listening to? The Sound of Music? Cool, what's the music called?' 'You were fired for making typos? What are typos?'
Dee and Dawn audition for a dead man at the Beaver Patch Lounge, but don't notice and are mistaken for Emmanuelle Vaugier's sleek killer The Cat and offsider The Kit (Meghan Ory), who are contracted to do one last job for The Godfather. (Who better than The Cat to kill a rat?). When the Mob contracts Dee and Dawn to 'take out' Mr Wong (Byron Mann), they think the $250,000 deposit is money for jam. ('I've taken out tons of guys - doctors, lawyers, actors, musicians, high school boys...') Everyone chases everyone, and there's a running gag involving Dee's pet turtle Virgin, who has a gas problem. There's a big finale involving black hawk helicopters, speedboats and flare guns, by which time if you haven't already succumbed to the craziness of it all, it is far too late.
