DUNGOG FILM FESTIVAL 2008 – AD

“We believe high quality film events need not be exclusive to big cities”, says Allanah Zitserman, Festival Director. Last year’s Festival was opened by film critic Margaret Pomeranz, while acclaimed Australian director Bruce Beresford praised the originality and uniqueness of this addition to the Australian film calendar. It is – surprisingly – the first and only film festival devoted entirely to Australian productions, and it’s a non-competitive event.

“The 2008 Festival promises to be a most successful year,” says Allanah, “with an enviable line-up of Australian films and many influential film professionals attending. A great film festival can launch careers, unearth new talent and promote new films. At last year’s Festival, a local distributor discovered the independent Australian film The Jammed, which later went on to break box office records and win great acclaim.”

“Bryan Brown, Pauline Chan, Al Clark, Peter Duncan, Elissa Down, Cathy Randall, Sue Milliken, and many, many other filmmakers will be attending this year's film festival, chocker with new films, classics from the vaults, live script reads and workshops.”

Sponsored by the NSW Minerals Council (that’s different!), is a new annual cultural event that showcases the very best of Australian film, including new feature films, documentaries, short films and animations. The Living Cinema History program showcases classic Australian films and heritage footage.
