FEEL THE NOISE: DVD

SYNOPSIS:
Born and bred in New York City, Rob (Omarion Grandberry) dreams of making it as a rapper. When he becomes a wanted man in his neighbourhood, Rob's loving mother (Kellita Smith) sends him to Puerto Rico to stay with a father he never knew existed (Giancarlo Esposito). In an instant, Rob not only acquires a father, but a stepmother (Rosa Arredondo) and a stepbrother (Victor Rasuk), Javi, who also has dreams of making it big in the music world. Together, Rob and Javi are determined to put their imprint on the widely popular world of Reggaeton, a musical genre combining Reggae, Rap, Parranda, Merengue, Salsa, and Bomba. With the help of Rob's love interest, beautiful dancer C.C. (Zulay Henao), the duo just might hit the big time. If they can avoid the pitfalls . . .

Review by Andrew L. Urban:
If you've never turned on the captions for the audio impaired, this DVD is a great way to see how it's done. The first caption read: "thumping rap music". But it's really useful for getting the lyrics of that thumping rap music! It doesn't mean you'll 'get' the lyrics any better. Like, "my icy wrist makes you sit" ... que? But if like me, you're not part of the rap scene, just suck it all up as atmos. (Besides, the captions are really useful as subtitles to fill in when the dialogue is incomprehensible.) This is a story that's an excuse for lotsa music and lotsa dance, San Juan nightlife and boy meets girl with ex boyfriend action.

The story takes us from New York to San Juan and back, in and out of family conflict and in and out of the path of true love. It's easy to take, musically joyous and infectious and finishes with a big Puerto Rico Day parade where all the characters (that deserve it) come together in a hugfest.
