SYNOPSIS:
Ron (Travis Fimmel) and Dale (Teresa Palmer) are on the run after some murder and mayhem, finding a remote mansion off the beaten track. But it's not abandoned; it's home to well to do agoraphobic Andrew (Stephen Moyer). Once Andrew's taken prisoner, the young crims are tempted to keep him alive by promises of money. And Andrew hopes to take advantage by playing Dale off against Ron, using his estranged fiancée as bait.

Review by Andrew L. Urban:
Dave Warner's taut and terrific screenplay gives director David Denneen plenty to work with in this classy, beautifully photographed thriller. Faithful to the genre but with a few twists, Retsraint teases us right to the end.

Teresa Palmer simmers as the ex-stripper moll seduced by the idea of moving up in social status, but torn by her attachment to nasty young man Ron, Travis Fimmel, who pounces off the screen with disdain like a latter day James Dean. Stephen Moyer is also outstanding as the lonely agoraphobe living in a remote mansion, who is held captive by the young crims on the run.

The excellent performances and steely direction help tell this straightforward but inventively decorated story in fine form. There is more to each of the characters than their thriller roles require, making the film richer in texture and deeper in satisfaction - even when the story is resolved in rulebook fashion.

Restraint - the tile has a key role - is a terrific surprise; unheralded as it is, it delivers great entertainment.
