URBAN CINEFILE 15TH ANNIVERSARY

We are amazed and surprised (and a tad proud) that we are still going more or less as we started in February 1997, providing a weekly service to our readers with multi-voice movie reviews, twice weekly box office reports, star and filmmaker interviews, background features, trailers, movie ticket & DVD give-aways and gossip-free Australian and international movie news.

15th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS INCLUDE:
TRAVELFILE
* Launch of our new section, Travelfile: movies are often a form of escape, and travel is another form of escape. And adventure... join us in Switzerland, Monte Carlo and Mexico.

15TH ANNIVERSARY GIVEAWAY WINNERS
15 fabulous movie prizes comprising:
* Australian Movie Vouchers (for 2) valid at 80 locations around Australia;

* A double in season pass to the stunning survival drama, The Grey, starring Liam Neeson;

* A DVD copy of Daniel Nettheim’s The Hunter, starring Willem Dafoe, nominated for 14 AACTA Awards

* A double in season pass to the new Australian romantic comedy from Working Dog (The Castle, The Dish), "Any Questions for Ben?", starring Josh Lawson, Rachael Taylor, Daniel Henshall, courtesy Roadshow Films.

We remain true to our tagline, coined in 1997: The world of film in Australia – on the internet. We also remain true to our commitment to Australian film, with a dedicated page listing links to all the Australian films which are reviewed or otherwise covered in our archives – over 500 of them. We are not xenophobic, but we do look at the movie world through Australian eyes, and with an emphasis on Australian film news.

Our coverage of films across all genres and from all over the world offers a deep and broad menu for our readers, neither just populist nor elitist.

While most of our 80,000 – 100,000 monthly readers are in Sydney and Melbourne, we have readers all over Australia - indeed, all over the world; we even have some (94 in January, 2012) in Saudi Arabia, which has only recently reopened a few cinemas after a 30 year ban.

Thank you to all our loyal readers, and thank you to the film & DVD distributors who advertise with us to reach those readers and who generously provide tickets and DVDs as prizes for our weekly competitions. Thanks, too, to our long-serving webmaster, Gary Morton.

We look forward to another year of unique, credible and committed service to our readers.
