G.I. JOE: RETALIATION 3D

SYNOPSIS:
After a deadly surprise attack on a team of G.I. Joes in the field near North Korea, the survivors swear retaliation. The attack seems to emanate from the highest levels within the Government itself. Roadblock (Dwayne Johnson), Lady Jaye (Adrienne Palicki) and Mouse (Joseph Mazzello) enlist the help of retired Col. Joe Colton (Bruce Willis) to track down the threat - not only to the Joes but to the entire world.

Review by Andrew L. Urban:
Channeling my inner 18 year old, the first word that hits my keyboard is - awesome! G.I. Joe is about big boys' toys and high calibre action. Tick and tick. I lost count of the number and lost track of the weaponry, but the many Hasbro toy inspired vehicles include two kinds of tanks, three different helicopters, two kinds of planes, a twin engine Cobra Air Boat with counter rotating blades, a bragging motorcycle, several swords, knives, sais and some guns without replicas in the real world.

The second most important element is the action: the most spectacular action sequence (partly because it's never been done before) takes place high in the rugged Himalayas, after a raid on a Nepalese monastery by Snake Eyes (Ray Park) and Jinx (Elodie Yung), to retrieve Storm Shadow (Byung-hun Lee) and take him back to Blind Master ... no spoilers. With Snow Shadow unconscious in a body bag, Snake Eyes and Jinx have to fend off hordes of red ninjas - all on zipwires in thin air. This extended and thrilling sequence - very little of it CGI - surely raises the bar on outrageously daring screen fighting.

To accommodate such a vast array of 'toy' and such a high profile cast, the story has to be big - and it is. World domination, no less, is at stake, by an evil Cobra plot involving the world's entire store of nuclear weapons, all subject to a wicked computer program.

There is the mandatory banter amongst the Joes, orchestrated to punctuate the action, and some eye boggling scenery beautifully photographed.

The cast, those whose faces can be seen that is, grunt and yell "GO GO GO GO GO' quite a lot, except for the women, who are all hot and cool at the same time. In short, the film delivers exactly what is expected and is therefore likely to be a major hit.
