OSCAR PREDICITIONS FROM OUR TEAM

While hundreds of readers entered our fabulous Oscar competition with their predictions, (hoping to win one of the two movie libraries by predicting the top 8 categories) – Urban Cinefile’s film critics made their own predictions. This year, with half a dozen Australians in the running for a golden statuette, the expectations for an Ozcar was high - sadly, the expectations were not met.

Prediciting how the 6,000 odd members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences are voting is tough – and our three senior critics (Andrew L. Urban, Louise Keller, Paul Fischer) didn't score very well. Miramax, which campaigned heavily for its main films in the running, Shakespeare in Love and Life is Beautiful, was well rewarded for its efforts.
