STUART LITTLE: SOUNDTRACK

"A Little bit of everything on this one: a Little bit of cheesy dance-pop from R Angels and S Club 7; a Little bit of riotous rock ‘n’ roll (featuring a fabulous fuzzy-as-fur guitar riff) from the cool cats comprising The Brian Setzer Orchestra; a Little bit of cat-and-mouse frivolity from Colby O’Davis with a winsome dance ditty built around a Mouse in the House refrain; a Little bit of smooth soul, hip-hop and R&B from the likes of Trisha Yearwood, Matt Goss and Brian McKnight (the latter marring the rich tonality of his performance with a few notes sharper than a kitty’s claws); a Little bit of Mariah Carey impersonating, by Debelah Morgan, who falls 3-inches short of Mariah on the high octave squeaks; a Little bit of delightful scoring from Alan Silvestri who, having previously composed the soundtrack for Mouse Hunt, seems to be grinning like the cat who got the cream with adventurous orchestrations that capture attention with the sudden effectiveness of a mousetrap and then scurry and scamper every which way with charming adventurousness; and a Little bit of Lou Bega who, of course, knows more than a Little about "a Little bit of…" this and "a Little bit of…" that, and appears here with a track entitled 1+1=2, although if Lou could add a Little higher it might have been called Mambo No. 6 – he’s done more than a Little self-copy-catting of Mambo No. 5.

But the Biggest moment on the Little soundtrack is a Little bit of magic from Lyle Lovett who sings on one of the best played songs of mice and men (the beautiful piano ballad, Walking Tall, penned by Burt Bacharach and Tim Rice) with just enough subtle sentiment to make one’s whiskers stand on end."
