"David Puttnam asked me to write this and gave me $5000 to do so, and I was frightened by it. I delayed and delayed for about a year, and Puttnam got pissed off and went away, and then I wrote it"  -Bob Ellis, on the birth of his script, The Nostradamus Kid

But when Imogen goes to France for the summer, things chang by the time she returns. And with the predatory Cyrus (Selma Blair) circling, it doesnít look good for the young lovers.

"An open letter to Julia Stiles and Freddie Prinze Jr.
Dear Guys,
Iíve just been to see your new film - Down to You - and have been moved to write to you immediately. And "moved" is just the right word, conjuring as it does visions of bodily functions. You see, watching it made me fearful for the health of your careers and yourselves. I mean, come on, what were you thinking! Did you read the script? Did it occur to you that this film contains some of the most inane dialogue heard on screen for quite some time? And some of those scenes! I mean, really - the porno actress, the eggplant, the shampoo, the book cover... I could go on all day. Did you watch the rushes? Surely you must have seen that Kris Isacsson was directing this, his sophomore effort, with all the subtlety of a gorilla trying to dance Swan Lake. Perhaps you thought it was a comedy, yeah? I certainly got some good laughs from it; although Iím sure they were unintended. And poor Henry... Has the Fonz really been reduced to this? Itís a little sad if you ask me. You guys certainly give it your best shot, but hey, weíre talking silk purses and sowís ears here. You had me believing you were in a relationship, but since I knew in the opening 5 minutes what happened with it, I didnít care much to find out how you got there. Oh, but the soundtrack was the bomb. Pity about all that stuff linking the songs together. Anyway guys, I truly hope you both grow through the experience of Down to You and move on - just move on.
Yours,"
David Edwards
