17/10/2002: HORROR VET TED V MIKELS COMING TO A GORE NEAR YOU

Andrew Leavold, operator of Brisbane based cult video rental shop, Trash Video is bringing to Australia Ted V Mikels, one of the legends of horror, SF and exploitation films, for a tour of capital cities through November. 

Ted V Mikels has been a one-man studio for forty years; he has made martial arts actioners, blaxploitation, sexploitation, even childrens films, but he is best remembered for his horror and SF films. 

Now in his early 70s he is showing no signs of slowing down, and over the last two years has completed the long-awaited sequels Corpse Grinders 2 (2000) and Mark Of The Astro Zombies (2001) featuring Astro Zombies/Faster Pussycat’s Tura Satana! Mr Mikels is travelling through Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide during November, screening his new films as well as his older classics!

His incredible output includes such cult classics as Astro Zombies (1969), The Corpse Grinders (1972), Blood Orgy Of The She-Devils (1973), Doll Squad (1974) and many, many more. He has worked in low-budget films in every possible capacity; from producer on the bizarre comedy The Worm Eaters (1977), distributor of the gore classics The Undertaker And His Pals (1968) and Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things, and even sound recordist on the 1965 Ed Wood-scripted sexploiter Orgy Of The Dead.
