Movie reviews:
MAGIC MIKE
(US, 2012) Dir: Steven Soderbergh. Stars Matthew McConaughey, Channing Tatum, Olivia Munn, Alex Pettyfer, James Martin Kelly, Cody Horne. " .. plenty of entertainment value and some titillation especially for female audiences, even if it does not quite provide the orgasmic hit we crave," says Louise. " .. on the scale of chick flicks, Magic Mike is probably a 10, combining large quantities of male stripping action in a nightclub setting and a soppy romantic tale," says Andrew.

COMPETITIONS
HAYWIRE DVD
Win one of 10 copies of spy thriller Haywire DVD, directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring mixed martial arts champion Gina Carano, Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Michael Angarano, Antonio Banderas and Michael Douglas, courtesy Roadshow Home Entertainment. Available on single disc edition DVD and Double Play edition (Blu-ray and digital copy) from July 26.

Movie review:
IN DARKNESS
(Poland/Germany, 2011) Dir: Agnieszka Holland. Stars Robert Wieckiewicz, Benno Fürmann, Agnieszka Grochowska, Maria Schrader. "Emotionally demanding and cinematically challenging, In Darkness tells us - repeats for us - what we must always remember about human nature: everyone can redeem themselves," says Andrew.

Movie reviews:
AND IF WE ALL LIVED TOGETHER?
(France, 2011) Dir: Stéphane Robelin. Stars Jane Fonda, Guy Bedos, Daniel Brühl, Géraldine Chaplin, Claude Rich. "It's not as clunky as Late Bloomers which managed to make a mockery of journeying into old age, but Robelin offers little charm and no solutions in his story about five friends who opt to live together in their autumn years," says Louise.

Australian premiere release (DVD):
HAYWIRE
(US, 2012) Stars Gina Carano, Michael Angarano, Channing Tatum, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas, Ewan McGregor. "Steven Soderbergh devised the film especially for his kickboxing champion leading lady Gina Carano, who in devastating fashion, kicks her way through a line of leading men, all coming off a poor second best. The plot is overly complicated with much of it washing over us, leaving the full throttle action to grab our attention," says Louise.

UPCOMING FILMS
[Coming soon, Jo Nesbo's Jackpot, stars Kyrre Hellum, Henrik Mestad, Mads Ousdal. "Scandinavian action comedies tend to be pretty dark, and Jackpot is nothing if not dark," says Andrew. "The unlikely tale involves murder, a missing corpse, garbage bags, a tanning bed, a wood chipper, sex-shop blow-up dolls, a pigsty, cheesie doodles, monopoly money and much more," says Louise.]

DVDS OUT THIS WEEK
AFRICA UNITED
Stars Eriya Ndayambaj, Roger Nsengiyumva, Sanyu Joanita Kintu, Yves Dusenge, Sherrie Silver. "Road movie, adventure, comedy drama, a will-they-make-it ... no matter what label you give it, Africa United is a unique piece of filmmaking," says Andrew. "Like its infectious music and indelible African landscape, the sheer enthusiasm of this upbeat film championing friendship and dreams instantly rubs off," says Louise.

A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN
Stars Kate Hudson, Peter Dinklage, Gael Garcia Bernal, Whoopi Goldberg. "Peter Dinklage is the surprise package in this mash up from Nicole Kassell, in which his role of an escort with a reputation to deliver 'a little bit of heaven' brings a welcome lift and unexpected honesty to a film that crumbles under its own weight and aspirations ..(but) Bernal is badly miscast as the yo-yo loving specialist medic and I had trouble believing in the central love-relationship," says Louise.

BAD TEACHER
Stars Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake, Lucy Punch, Jason Segel. "..falls down in its flippant approach to an idea that doesn't have any traction beyond a TV skit, about a morally bankrupt teacher in high heels trying to pay her way to a boob job," says Andrew. "Diaz in fine form manages to save the film and makes it almost worth going to class," says Louise.

Competition winners:
KILLER ELITE & LONDON BOULEVARD DVD
To win one of 10 DVD prize packs comprising Killer Elite (Jason Statham, Clive Owen, Robert DeNiro) PLUS London Boulevard (Colin Farrell, Keira Knightley), courtesy Walt Disney Studio Home Entertainment, we asked: To which family member would you not trust a state secret and why? Anita Kettniss (QLD) says: Little sister - hasn't regained our trust since the Mother's Day Debacle of 88 when she announced that we'd pooled our money to buy a gift 'but it isn't a watch'.
