EDITORIAL: Politically correct is the whole point by Andrew L. Urban.

Movie review:
STRANGERLAND
(Aust, 2015) Dir: Kim Farrant. Stars Nicole Kidman, Joseph Fiennes, Hugo Weaving, Maddison Brown. "There's a wonderful mood and sense of place about Kim Farrant's debut feature set in the Australian outback, although the individual parts are more successful than the whole," says Louise.

Movie reviews:
THE NIGHTINGALE
(China, 2014) Dir: Philippe Muyl. Stars Li Bao Tian, Li Ran Xiao, Hao Qin, Xin Yi Yang. "Simple but far from simplistic, The Nightingale sings its song with gentle power, telling a story that is both affecting and effective as cinema," says Andrew. "There is plenty of heart in this affecting film whose song sings sweetly as it finds its notes on the forest stave," says Louise. (Special advance screenings June 12, 13, 14; releases June 18)

Movie review:
THE MAFIA ONLY KILLS IN SUMMER
(Italy, 2013) Dir: Pif. Stars Pif, Cristiana Capotondi. "Mafia blood and true love are strange bedfellows in this black comedy whose wonderful title promises more than the film offers," says Louise.

UPCOMING FILMS
[Coming in July, Mr Holmes, stars Ian McKellen, Laura Linney. "An intriguing glimpse into the mind of Conan Arthur Doyle's beloved detective, whose reliance on facts and logic ironically proves not always to be infallible," says Louise.]

At a glance:
TOP 20
Short and sweet (or not) opinions on the most popular current releases. An easy reference for choosing which movie to see tonight or tomorrow or right now! (Occasionally we also slip in a few of our favourites if they don't make the top 20)

NEW DVDS:
FOX CATCHER
Stars Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo. "There are many elements to this true story about wealth, wrestling and winning but it is Steve Carell's extraordinary metamorphose as the creepy John E. du Pont, complete with unsettling gaze and manner that is the film's most haunting element," says Louise.

THE INTERVIEW
Stars James Franco, Seth Rogen, Randall Park. "It's not as bad as some would have you believe, nor as good as we might have hoped, and there is a solid lesson for filmmakers who ignore the rules of excellence in comedy: don't try to make it all funny," says Andrew.

Competition winners:
STILL ALICE DVD
To win DVDS, we asked: Among family and friends, who is your role model and why? Angela Mandic (NSW): My 2 year old niece; she reminds me life is precious and it is what you make it. After spending a day with her, I forget all the materialistic needs and enjoy what I am.
