Movie review releasing various dates in August:
FORCE OF DESTINY
(Aust, 2015) Dir: Paul Cox. Stars David Wenham, Jacqueline McKenzie, Shahana Goswami "It's a confronting film that puts us on the edge of life - where the chasm of uncertainty and death waits below, as the past the present and the future are contemplated," says Louise.

5 FLIGHTS UP
(US, 2015) Dir: Richard Loncraine. Stars Morgan Freeman, Diane Keaton. "Morgan Freeman and Diane Keaton are wonderful together in this delightful exploration of life and love in New York," says Louise.

IRIS
(US, 2015) Dir: Albert Maysles. Documentary. "As a snapshot of an exceptional woman, Iris is an uplifting and entertaining film; it lifts our spirits with the fuel of hers," says Andrew.

UNITY
(US, 2015) Dir: Shaun Monson. "It is a powerful visual explanation of what it means to be fully conscious as a human, empathising with the suffering of other sentient beings," says Andrew.

Movie reviews releasing August 20:
SOUTHPAW
(US, 2015) Dir: Antoine Fuqua. Stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, Forest Whitaker. "With the story's emotional heart as compelling as its bloody fight sequences, Southpaw is a powerhouse of a film. It's a transformative role for Jake Gyllenhaal," says Louise.

IRRATIONAL MAN
(US, 2015) Dir: Woody Allen. Stars Emma Stone, Joaquin Phoenix, Parker Posey. "With its somewhat cynical view of life, love and sense of purpose, the film plays out beautifully on an intellectual level, while the compelling presence of Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone brings a formidable dynamic," says Louise.

Movie reviews releasing August 27:
HOLDING THE MAN
(Aus, 2015) Dir: Neil Armfield. Stars Ryan Corr, Craig Stott, Guy Pearce, Anthony LaPaglia. "Exquisitely told, director Neil Armfield has captured the beauty of this 15 year-old love story whose emotional trajectory we share: joy, laughter, prejudice, outrage, pain and devastation," says Louise.

Movie reviews releasing September 3:
A WALK IN THE WOODS
(US/UK, 2015) Dir: Ken Kwapis. Stars Robert Redford, Nick Nolte. "The ripe chemistry between Robert Redford and Nick Nolte makes this hybrid adventure and buddy movie into a thoroughly enjoyable outing. Moreover, it is very funny, with as many laughs as there are mishaps on the Appalachian Trail," says Louise.

ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL
(US, 2015) Dir: Alfonso Gomez-Rejon. Stars Thomas Mann, RJ Cyler, Olivia Cooke. "It's the skewed perspective and quirky attitude that makes this coming of age story so unexpectedly entertaining," says Louise.

UPCOMING FILMS

"A powerful visceral statement in which imagery and music almost overshadow the dialogue, Justin Kurzel's Macbeth is a stunning and ambitious piece of cinema, capturing the essence of Shakespeare's classic tragedy about power, madness and death," says Louise.]

TOP 20

NEW DVDS:
MAD MAX: FURY ROAD
Stars Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron. "Raw explosive energy perpetuates throughout this wild choreographed ballet of chaos in which desperation is the key weapon for survival," says Louise.

SLOW WEST
Stars Michael Fassbender, Ben Mendelsohn, Kodi Smit-McPhee. "There's a distinctive mood that reverberates throughout this intriguing western, whose straight-ahead narrative is contrasted by the offbeat characters that appear unexpectedly along the way," says Louise.

STRANGERLAND
Stars Nicole Kidman, Joseph Fiennes, Hugo Weaving. "There’s a wonderful mood and sense of place about Kim Farrant's debut feature set in the Australian outback, although the individual parts are more successful than the whole," says Louise.

THE GUNMAN
Stars Sean Penn, Javier Bardem. "Divergent moral codes sit side by side in this intense thriller about corporate greed and unconscionable acts, but the plot has so many facets, it confuses," says Louise.

FAST & FURIOUS 7
Stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker. "Nothing is impossible in his no holds barred thrilling actioner in which cars leap from planes, skyscrapers and cliff-tops as stunts accelerate to levels that almost break the sound barrier," says Louise.

TESTAMENT OF YOUTH
Stars Hayley Atwell, Alicia Vikander, Taron Egerton, Kit Harington, Dominic West. "Perhaps sticking too faithfully to the book, the filmmakers end up making a rather gloomy chick-flick, rather than the war drama with a modern heroine, which it might have been," says Andrew.

THE AGE OF ADALINE
Stars Blake Lively, Harrison Ford, Michiel Huisman. "A freak snowstorm, a mysterious comet and a love worth waiting for are the key ingredients in this romantic fantasy in which time stands still for its beguiling heroine," says Louise.
