GOLDEN GLOBES 2013 – WINNERS

It’s Argo and Les Mis, Hugh Jackman and Daniel Day-Lewis, Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence, Christoph Waltz and Anne Hathaway at the Golden Globes, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary.

While these Awards are globally televised and much is made of them, it should be remembered it’s unlike any other major movie award – because the 70 - 80 odd voters are members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Most of them aren’t even film critics, and certainly not peers of the filmmakers. But let’s not take the shine off the globos, it’s an achievement to be nominated in such a crowded field (what, over 300 movies a year).

The gongs are spread around: Quentin Tarantino won for Best Screenplay with Django Unchained, Ben Affleck won for Best Directing with Argo, Life of Pi for Best Original Score by Mychael Danna and Best Original Song for Skyfall.
